My Journey

What do you care about? What’s most important to you?
The people that are most important to me would be family and friends, my team at work and my fiance. There is something so special about the people that you work through all of the bumps in life’s road, both in business and personally.

It is important to me to make a difference in the life of my family and community, both with my business and personally. We are all only here for a short time and I want to make each minute count.

Where have you been?
I started Skyscapes on my hands and knees installing the products by myself, with just one 40-square-foot balcony, working out of the back of my personal vehicle completely solo.

Where am I today?
We have since grown to a 21-person and counting organization working out of a 16000 square foot facility in Toronto, tailored to our needs. and have grown to a 21-person organization working out of a 16000 square foot and now book 80000 square foot projects multiple times a year. We are in the process of changing how outdoor flooring is installed, which will make our products more accessible to all condo owners, expanding their usable space and allowing them to reclaim their urban outdoor areas.

Where are you going?
Our team is on the cusp of implementing innovative technology that has never been used before in our specific industry. In the next year we are looking to expand, opening a second location with more to follow. Within the next 3 years we look to scale the business to service 6 major metropolitan areas in North America.

ABOUT ME

My Passion/Purpose/Cause

Over the years I have overcome a number of personal challenges. Poor decision making in my teens and early twenties could have been avoided and saved myself a significant amount of trouble and heart-ache. I tended to do everything the long and hard way. In the last 7 years I have really focused on where I want to be, and who I need to be to attain that goal.

I am still working on all aspects of my life, but I finally feel like I am back in control.

I will continue to work towards making a significant contribution to any endeavour or group I join, for myself, my family and my community. I will do whatever it takes to better the lives of those around me.

All in EVERY TIME.

DAVID’S MESSAGE TO PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS

I did not have a network of business professionals in my life. I was close to accepting a deal for what I thought was business experience, that in the end would not have benefitted me and the company. After that, I found the TEC group, which the monthly fee alone has paid for itself 10 times over. Drink the cool-aid, dive into the group.

Absorb everything, figure out what you can add to support the other members and provide them value. You will be surprised about the things you may be excelling at. It is extremely rare that the group doesn’t give multiple recommendations for issues raised both at meetings and in the chat.

When you think of ideal leadership qualities, the words decisiveness, focus, vision, courage and passion come to mind, to name a few. Dave possesses all of these in abundance, while at the same time coupling them with his ability and intellect to very quickly assess what the risks and benefits are of the multitude of key decisions an Entrepreneurial leader must often make simply put Dave in a category of his own.
